Lemax Spookytown
It took living with a collector to finally embrace my geekiness for Halloween. One of the things he taught me was "Who cares if it seems nerdy - if it makes you happy, it's a good thing". So, when we got married and moved in together, he helped me in starting to collect the Lemax Spooky houses carried by Michaels. When I go downstairs and dig them out to put them up in October, I promise I'll take pictures of my own set up, but for now these are a couple examples I found online.
The house pictured above is one I actually own - the "Candy Shoppe" and this one at the bottom is one I will likely buy if I find it in stores. I love the intricate details that these houses have, it seems they think of everything when they design them. This is a Pet shop - complete with broom parking meters out front.
I can't wait to see the line up in the store this year, it's probably all ready set up, I just haven't been to Michael's in awhile (which is nearly a sin in my book). I also spend a lot of time looking at the older items people are selling on Ebay, every once in awhile you'll find a good deal. They take up a TON of room to set up and make them look good, which is why I think a lot of people buy them and then get sick of setting them up!
I'd have them up year round if it were up to me, but I do live with someone who is not nearly as enthusiastic about Halloween as I am!

I love the horror houses! I have a set up, but it is patched together from various different houses. I liked the new Halloween countdown thing they have, too!
ReplyDeleteare you taking about the witch with the pumpkin countdown board? I have her too :)
ReplyDeleteI just got her this past weekend! I love it, but wish it had a second 4/5 piece. I couldn't do 55 or 54 the past couple of days and won't be able to do 45 or 44, either, I guess. Ah well.
